Dr Oliver Brown Implants

Hi, I’m Oli

Oliver, or Dr Brown. Whichever you find most comfortable.

I believe you should find what you’re good at and stick to it.

It just so happens that for me this is dental implantology!

Dentistry has many possible pathways to progress however I quickly found my heart lay in the surgical side of things. Having made this decision early in my career I began to move away from general dentistry and have focused almost entirely on implantology over the past few years.

Picking one area to develop has allowed me to continually build on my skills and avoid the dreaded ‘Jack of all trades, master of none.’ I aim to provide the highest level of treatment by keeping up to date with the latest developments and techniques.

Outside of dentistry I have a very active lifestyle and enjoy pushing my comfort zone. I’m not a fan of sitting still and my idea of a holiday is a month in Nepal on a climbing expedition to summit a Himalayan giant. Rock climbing and mountaineering are my main pursuits but I also enjoy training for ultramarathons and can often be found on the trails before or after a day of surgery!

My Journey

I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2015 and moved down to Oxfordshire, working as a general dentist to start my career.

In 2018 I began a post-graduate implantology course at the Tipton Dental Training Academy London, accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons.

I was fortunate enough to win the ‘Implant Dentist of the Year’ award upon completion of the course. This ignited my fire to realise implantology was my passion and I have focused my career around this ever since.

PG Courses / Skill Development

  • Tipton Dental Training Academy - Implantology.

  • Soft tissue grafting - Plastic periodontal microsurgery at the Birmingham and Periodontal Implant Centre.

  • Direct sinus grafting - Lateral window approach.

  • Advanced bone grafting - Block grafting, vertical augmentation.

  • Plasma rich fibrin - Enhancing hard and soft tissue regeneration.

  • Osseodensification, ridge expansion and indirect sinus grafting.

  • Full arch rehabilitation - Including All-On-4 concept, Nobel Biocare.

Experience

I work at a number of practices in Oxfordshire and currently place 20-25 implants per month. This includes frequent bone, sinus, soft tissue and PRF grafting.

As par for the course I have dealt with numerous implant failures, both my own and other practitioners. This has given me a good understanding of managing problems if and when they arise.

A Recipe for Success

You can have all the skills in world but you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. Introducing the glue to the operation and the backbone of the enterprise.

Chiara is an integral part of ORB Implants, working closely with Oliver day-to-day as a surgical assistant, along with managing the patient journey and ensuring each procedure runs as smoothly as possible.

Chiara trained in dental nursing in 2019 and quickly began to shine. She started working with Oliver and they found their passions aligned as she took an immediate interest in surgery. She went on to develop her skills and moved away from general nursing, focusing on implantology and subsequently management of ORB Implants.

Oliver and Chiara travel between a number of dental practices so she is lucky enough to spend many hours listening to his questionable music and audiobooks!

When she is not in surgery she can be found on walks with her dog, training him to be a ‘good boy’ which, of course, he is.
